Ewell Grove Primary & Nursery School Joins Lumen Learning Trust

Ewell Grove Primary & Nursery School officially joined Lumen Learning Trust on 1st November 2024

The partnership marks a strategic step in the growth of the trust as well as a broadening of the curriculum and support systems available to pupils, staff, and families.

Enhanced Opportunities for Ewell Grove
Located in the heart of Ewell town centre, Ewell Grove has long been recognised for its commitment to academic excellence and community involvement. The decision to join Lumen, a primary academy trust in the Surrey area, is expected to provide Ewell Grove with additional resources, staff training, and access to specialised initiatives in areas such as technology, physical education and SEN.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ewell Grove to our Lumen Academy family,” said Trust CEO Mary Ellen McCarthy. “Their dedication to pupil well-being and achievement aligns perfectly with our mission to provide outstanding educational experiences. Together, we will create new pathways for pupils to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.”

A Boost to Staff Development and Community Support
One of the immediate advantages Ewell Grove staff will experience is enhanced access to professional development opportunities and training provided by Lumen. This includes cross-school workshops on emerging educational technologies, mental health support, and modern teaching techniques, ensuring that staff remain at the forefront of educational advancements.

Additionally, the trust model is designed to foster collaboration among schools, allowing Ewell Grove’s educators to work alongside colleagues from other Lumen schools, sharing best practices and innovative ideas. The increased collaboration is seen as a way to ensure that all pupils, regardless of background, have access to a high-quality education.
Ewell Grove’s Head, Paula Rising explains “We see the value in being part of a collaborative group that’s committed to continuous improvement,” “This partnership will empower our teachers and staff with the skills and resources they need to deliver the best possible education for our pupils.”

Positive Impact on the Local Community
Parents and community members have expressed optimism about the new partnership. A member of the school’s parent-teacher association noted, “We’re excited about the additional support and opportunities this will bring for our children. Being part of Lumen will provide experiences and resources that we might not have had otherwise.”
